The Collage Book, the original, is an actual physical book, an old broken children's illustrated dictionary that I found on the street a few years ago during the pandemic, that I fixed up and started regularly doing analog paper collaging on the pages. Often the collage includes and comments on elements of the original page. Other times it totally replaces it. Over the course of about 2 years I finally finished, had filled up the whole book (minus some pages removed - since the process ended up making each collaged page thicker, the book wouldn't have been able to be closed without removing some). It had become a kind of record of my paper collage practice, and I want to reproduce it so it's more than just a single unique object. Last year I finished photographing all the pages and am now in the process of "postproduction" - since the pages don't lay perfectly flat, I have to digitally "flatten" them after the fact, and do a little color correction, etc. So it's kind of labor intensive, but i'm about halfway through. The pages also have ended up being reused digitally in some video/music performances of mine over the last couple of years. While I finish the process, I decided to release a smaller "preview" book that consists of the first 70 pages of the full thing. This is what I'm selling now, a limited edition that will help to fund the printing of the complete book later.
